Occasions and Sympathy Flowers in Landkreis Rostock

In Germany, for those marking Valentine's Day (Valentinstag), the date is 14 February, with red roses and mixed bouquets associated with the occasion. Mother's Day (Muttertag) is marked on the second Sunday of May, with flowers among the gifts associated with the occasion. The calendar marks Christmas (Weihnachten) on 24 and 25 December, with table arrangements, amaryllis and poinsettias associated with the occasion. The celebration of Sunday of the Dead (Totensonntag) falls on the last Sunday before Advent, with flowers used to mark remembrance at graves. In German practice, red roses can carry a romantic meaning; when choosing flowers for a friend, colleague or host, consider the message you want the gift to convey and use the personal card to make the occasion clear.

For a service at Stiftskirche zu Bützow, ask whether the flowers should be there before the family arrives, and where in the church they are placed. Flowers for a service at Dorfkirche Altkalen are usually taken in beforehand; the parish office can say how early the church is able to receive them. When a funeral service is held at Marienkirche, confirm with the parish where flowers should be delivered and by what time they need to arrive. As part of German custom, a funeral wreath or arrangement may carry a Schleife, a printed ribbon naming the mourner; if you want a ribbon, specify the requested wording when discussing the tribute, including the names of those sending it. When deciding on the flowers, chrysanthemums, white lilies and white roses are customary choices for funeral flowers; use the occasion and the family’s preferences to guide the choice of tribute, and check the selected product for the flowers it includes. For someone choosing flowers, a Grabgesteck may be placed on a grave for Totensonntag and, in Catholic states, for Allerheiligen; for a tribute intended for a grave, ask the cemetery about the precise location and its arrangements for accepting flowers.
