Across Germany, a funeral wreath or arrangement may carry a Schleife, a printed ribbon naming the mourner; if you want a ribbon, specify the requested wording when discussing the tribute, including the names of those sending it. In choosing the arrangement, chrysanthemums, white lilies and white roses are customary choices for funeral flowers; use the occasion and the family’s preferences to guide the choice of tribute, and check the selected product for the flowers it includes. For this kind of gift, a Grabgesteck may be placed on a grave for Totensonntag and, in Catholic states, for Allerheiligen; for a tribute intended for a grave, ask the cemetery about the precise location and its arrangements for accepting flowers.
