Sending Flowers to Schools in Nordstrand

Sending flowers to someone at Herrendeichsschule? Say plainly who they are for — the teacher’s full name, and the class if there is one — because whoever signs at the door is rarely the recipient. For a delivery to a teacher at Alte Schule 1933 - 1938, write the name in full and add the class or year group where you know it; the office or the caretaker usually takes the delivery in, so the clearer the name, the surer it reaches the right person.

Occasions and Sympathy Flowers in Nordstrand

In Germany, the celebration of Valentine's Day (Valentinstag) falls on 14 February, with red roses and mixed bouquets associated with the occasion. The calendar marks Mother's Day (Muttertag) on the second Sunday of May, with flowers among the gifts associated with the occasion. Christmas (Weihnachten) is observed on 24 and 25 December, with table arrangements, amaryllis and poinsettias associated with the occasion. On the last Sunday before Advent, Sunday of the Dead (Totensonntag) is celebrated, with flowers used to mark remembrance at graves. Among German customs, red roses can carry a romantic meaning; when choosing flowers for a friend, colleague or host, consider the message you want the gift to convey and use the personal card to make the occasion clear.

For a service at Sankt Theresia, ask which entrance is used for flowers and how early a tribute should be there. If the service takes place at Sankt Vinzenz, the tribute usually goes to the church rather than to the family’s home; confirm the time with whoever is arranging it. When a funeral service is held at Sankt Knud, confirm with the parish where flowers should be delivered and by what time they need to arrive. Among German customs, a funeral wreath or arrangement may carry a Schleife, a printed ribbon naming the mourner; if you want a ribbon, specify the requested wording when discussing the tribute, including the names of those sending it. For this kind of gift, chrysanthemums, white lilies and white roses are customary choices for funeral flowers; use the occasion and the family’s preferences to guide the choice of tribute, and check the selected product for the flowers it includes. For someone choosing flowers, a Grabgesteck may be placed on a grave for Totensonntag and, in Catholic states, for Allerheiligen; for a tribute intended for a grave, ask the cemetery about the precise location and its arrangements for accepting flowers.
