Occasions and Sympathy Flowers in Bergkamen

In Germany, Valentine's Day (Valentinstag) falls on 14 February, with red roses and mixed bouquets associated with the occasion. Mother's Day (Muttertag) is observed on the second Sunday of May, with flowers among the gifts associated with the occasion. Christmas (Weihnachten) has its place in the calendar on 24 and 25 December, with table arrangements, amaryllis and poinsettias associated with the occasion. On the last Sunday before Advent, Sunday of the Dead (Totensonntag) is celebrated, with flowers used to mark remembrance at graves. Within the German tradition, red roses can carry a romantic meaning; when choosing flowers for a friend, colleague or host, consider the message you want the gift to convey and use the personal card to make the occasion clear.

Flowers for a service at Christuskirche are usually taken in beforehand; the parish office can say how early the church is able to receive them. If the service takes place at Martin-Luther-Kirche, the tribute usually goes to the church rather than to the family’s home; confirm the time with whoever is arranging it. When a funeral service is held at St. Elisabeth, confirm with the parish where flowers should be delivered and by what time they need to arrive. In the German cultural context, a funeral wreath or arrangement may carry a Schleife, a printed ribbon naming the mourner; if you want a ribbon, specify the requested wording when discussing the tribute, including the names of those sending it. In practical terms, chrysanthemums, white lilies and white roses are customary choices for funeral flowers; use the occasion and the family’s preferences to guide the choice of tribute, and check the selected product for the flowers it includes. A Grabgesteck may be placed on a grave for Totensonntag and, in Catholic states, for Allerheiligen; for a tribute intended for a grave, ask the cemetery about the precise location and its arrangements for accepting flowers.
