More About Flowers Delivery in Samoa

Substitutions, and what happens if nobody is home

An unavailable flower does not hold up the order. Bouquets follow the freshest stems of the day, so if a bloom you picked cannot be had, the florist substitutes one of equal or greater value in the same style. And if the recipient is not at home when the delivery arrives, the florist will typically call them or arrange a redelivery. Pick the arrangement you actually want — the substitution rule is there to protect the delivery, not to downgrade it.

What a complete address needs here

Start with the village. Samoa has no postcode system, so an address here generally leans on a PO Box in Apia or on the village and district name to place the delivery. Write the village or district exactly as the recipient gives it to you, and add the PO Box if they use one. Then include their local phone number — florists use it to confirm availability and pin down the exact address before they set out. A recipient who can be called is a recipient who can be found, and the field costs you nothing at checkout.

Bouquets, plants, gift baskets and chocolates

When words over the phone are not landing, something at the door restarts the conversation. Fresh flowers are the obvious answer, and they are not the only one: gift baskets, plants and chocolates go out through the same local florists, so the gesture can be a potted plant or a box of chocolates when that suits the person better. The climate does much of the work here. Most flowering plants bloom year-round, and the range tends to widen a little through the wetter season from November to April. Pick the category that suits the occasion, then choose the arrangement.

Samoan flower customs and where blooms grow

Cut flowers are grown on Upolu and Savai'i, and wholesale stock moves through Maketi Fou in Apia. What a florist reaches for tends to be tropical: frangipani, hibiscus, teuila, the red ginger, orchids and bird of paradise, with ti leaf, palm frond, banana leaf and fern for greenery. The local habit is to weave and string flowers into garlands and headpieces rather than wrap them as a Western-style bouquet. An 'ula, the flower garland worn around the neck, is the customary way to welcome a guest, mark a graduation or honour a visitor, and a fresh flower behind the ear is everyday wear, not something saved for gifting. For a funeral, white flowers are the usual choice, frangipani above all, in wreaths and garlands. Wreaths and formal funeral pieces need 24–48 hours' notice.

Which dates matter most for sending flowers

Mother's Day falls on the second Sunday of May, and it is the exception to the usual working week — florists open for the big flower days, so your order can arrive even though the date is a Sunday. Around Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, order at least 48 hours ahead. The Teuila Festival runs for a week in early September, named after the teuila flower itself, with floral floats and garlands. White Sunday, or Lotu Tamaiti, falls on the second Sunday of October, when children are dressed in white and wear flower garlands to church. Independence Day on June 1 brings public celebrations with floral garlands and decorated processions, and at Christmas on December 25 homes and churches are decorated with fresh flowers and garlands.

Where to send when they are travelling

Someone mid-journey is almost impossible to reach. An airport, a railway station or a cruise terminal is not a place a delivery can find them, so send to their hotel, office or home address instead, timed for after they arrive. Apartment buildings bring their own obstacle: many need a door code to get past the lobby, and the place to put it is the checkout field, where it adds nothing to what you pay. Both are decisions made before you order, not repairs made afterwards.

Customer Questions

Flowers Delivery to Samoa — FAQs

Can I get same-day flower delivery in Samoa?

Yes — order before 14:00 local time and your flowers can be delivered the same day. Orders placed after the cutoff are delivered on the next available day you choose at checkout.

Can I choose the delivery date?

Yes. You can pick any future delivery date at checkout, and the calendar only offers dates that are available. Choosing the date yourself is the safest option around busy periods.

Can flowers be delivered to a hospital?

Acceptance depends on the hospital and ward — check before ordering; otherwise delivery goes to reception. Use the hospital's own city and full address, with the patient's full name and, where possible, the ward or room.

Can you deliver to a hotel guest?

Yes. Include the guest's full name and, if you can, their arrival date or booking reference so reception can match the delivery to the right guest.

Can flowers be sent to someone at work?

Yes — include the company name and, if you know it, the floor or department, and the delivery goes to reception. Choose a day the recipient is in, within office hours.

Can I ask for a specific delivery time?

You can request a preferred time slot, but exact times cannot be guaranteed — deliveries follow the local florist's routes and workload for the day. The delivery date you select at checkout is honoured.

Can flowers be delivered to a care residence?

Yes. Include the resident's full name and, where possible, the floor or unit. It is worth checking the residence accepts flower deliveries; reception will usually pass them on.
