Deliveries run Monday to Saturday, which gives you six days in most weeks to land on. Bouquets follow the freshest stems of the day: an unavailable flower is replaced with one of equal or greater value in the same style. The size, the colour and the shape you chose are what the florist holds to, so the bunch that arrives is recognisably the one you ordered even when a single variety came up short at the market that morning.
Give the complete address: the street and number or the PO box — Caixa Postal 1234, Maputo, for instance, since there is no nationwide postcode system — with the town, plus a phone number for the recipient. Florists use that number to confirm availability and the exact address, which matters more here than in a country where a postcode narrows things down for them. Apartment deliveries often need a door code, so add it at checkout, in the notes field, at no cost.
Over 100 flowers are ready to send, with gift baskets, plants and chocolates alongside them. Bouquets here run bright and densely packed, mixed, with tropical colour accents — roses, carnations, chrysanthemums, gladioli, lilies and strelitzia come up most often, set off with asparagus fern, ruscus, eucalyptus and palm leaf. They are hand-tied and wrapped in cellophane or patterned paper. And a bouquet does not need a calendar behind it: the morning-after gesture, sent because last night meant something, is as good a reason as any. Choose one and set the day.
Roses, gladioli, strelitzia and chrysanthemums are grown in the country itself, mostly in Maputo Province and in Manica, around the Chimoio highlands. Local growing is strongest in the cooler, drier months from roughly April to September; through the hot, rainy season from November to March, quality stock relies more on imports from neighbouring South Africa and Zimbabwe. Worth knowing if you have a particular flower in mind in January rather than in June — either way the florist builds from what the market held that morning.
Mozambican Women's Day, 7 April, is a public holiday, and women are widely gifted flowers to mark it. International Women's Day, 8 March, is observed with flower gifting in urban areas as well. On Christmas Day, 25 December, flowers go onto tables and around homes for family gatherings. In the cities, Maputo above all, a bouquet is an ordinary birthday or congratulations gift. Valentine's Day, 14 February, is when couples exchange flowers, roses especially, and it is the exception to the usual schedule: florists open for the big flower days, so your order can arrive even when the date falls on a Sunday. Around Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, order at least 48 hours ahead.
Someone mid-journey — at an airport, railway station or cruise terminal — is almost impossible to reach with a delivery. Send to their hotel, office or home address instead, timed for after they arrive. If the recipient isn't home, the florist typically calls them or arranges redelivery. For a funeral, wreaths and standing floral arrangements are what is placed at the service and at the graveside, and white flowers, lilies and chrysanthemums in particular, carry the association with mourning in Christian communities. Wreaths and formal funeral pieces need 24–48 hours' notice.
Sending from another country changes nothing at your end — order online, and the arrangement is made and delivered locally. Checkout is in your own currency, paid securely online, so the figure you approve is the figure that leaves your account. Gift baskets, plants and chocolates go the same way, on the same order, if a bouquet is not what the day calls for. Two fields decide the whole thing, the date and the address; fill them in and the morning is somebody else's to organise.
Yes — order before 13:00 local time and your flowers can be delivered the same day. Orders placed after the cutoff are delivered on the next available day you choose at checkout.
You can request a preferred time slot, but exact times cannot be guaranteed — deliveries follow the local florist's routes and workload for the day. The delivery date you select at checkout is honoured.
