Flowers — Vatican

Order before 18:00 and the flowers can be delivered the same day, with deliveries running Monday to Saturday. It might be a birthday you cannot be there for: the bouquet arrives on the day itself, and your words arrive with it, since every order includes a free card message printed exactly as you write it. Sending flowers to the Vatican is a short journey at the last step — the arrangement is made close by and carried to the door, not posted across a border in a box.

Choose the arrangement, write the message you want them to read, and place the order before this evening's cutoff to have it delivered before the day is over.

More About Flowers Delivery in Vatican

What does an address in the Vatican need?

The whole city-state shares a single fixed postcode, 00120, so the postcode alone will not tell a florist where to stop. Write the building or institution, the name of the person receiving the flowers, and 00120 Città del Vaticano underneath. Then add the recipient's local phone number: florists use it to confirm availability and pin down the exact address, and on a delivery inside walls where public access is controlled, that call is often what turns a good address into a completed delivery.

Lilies, laurel and large-scale arrangements

There are over 100 arrangements to choose from, built around roses, lilies, carnations, chrysanthemums, gladioli and hydrangeas, cut with fern, ivy, laurel, palm fronds or olive branches. Local floral work leans formal and abundant, made for scale and visibility in basilica and piazza settings, and tends towards terraced displays and altar arrangements more than individual hand-tied bunches. If what you want is smaller and more personal, that is the thing to say in the notes. Gift Baskets, Plants and Chocolates can be sent alongside.

No fields here — every stem comes through Rome

Vatican City has no commercial flower cultivation of its own, so flowers are sourced through Rome's wholesale trade, at the Mercato dei Fiori di Roma, or donated in bulk from abroad for the major liturgical events. Custom around flowers is largely the custom of the Church. White flowers, lilies above all, are used at Catholic funeral Masses as a symbol of purity and the resurrection, and formal standing wreaths, the corone, are displayed near the church entrance or the bier. Chrysanthemums are strongly associated with mourning and cemeteries and are avoided as a gift flower. If you are saying goodbye from far away, flowers can stand in for you at the service; wreaths and formal funeral pieces need 24–48 hours' notice.

Which feast days fill the basilica with flowers?

Easter (Pasqua), the first Sunday after the first full moon following the March equinox, brings hundreds of thousands of flowers, traditionally donated by Dutch growers, to St Peter's Square for the Mass and the Urbi et Orbi blessing. At Christmas (Natale), December 25, floral displays and poinsettias accompany the Nativity scene and basilica decorations. The Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, June 29, decorates St Peter's Basilica, and on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8, the Pope traditionally lays a floral tribute at a Marian statue in Rome. Corpus Christi, the Thursday 60 days after Easter Sunday, brings flower-petal carpets, the infiorate, to surrounding communities; All Souls' Day, November 2, is marked with cemetery flowers, chrysanthemums especially.

Locked doors, missed knocks and people in transit

Around Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, order at least 48 hours ahead. Apartment deliveries often need a door code, so add it at checkout with the rest of the address. If the recipient isn't home, the florist typically calls them or arranges redelivery. Someone mid-journey is the harder case — at an airport, railway station or cruise terminal they are almost impossible to reach, so send to their hotel, office or home address instead, timed for after they arrive. And arrangements are made with what's freshest: if a flower isn't available, the florist substitutes one of equal or greater value in a matching style.

Paying in your currency, from wherever you are

Sending from another country changes nothing at your end: you order online, checkout is in your own currency, paid securely online, and the arrangement is made and delivered locally. Pilgrims and visitors sometimes present flowers to the Pope during General Audiences, which is a different thing from a delivery to an address — that one needs a name, a building and a date, and nothing else from you. Browse the arrangements and pick the date that suits.

Customer Questions

Flowers Delivery to Vatican — FAQs

Can I get same-day flower delivery in the Vatican?

Yes — order before 18:00 local time and your flowers can be delivered the same day. Orders placed after the cutoff are delivered on the next available day you choose at checkout.

Can I choose a future delivery date?

Yes. You can pick any future delivery date at checkout, which is the safest option around busy periods, and the calendar only offers dates that are available.

Can I ask for a particular delivery time?

You can request a preferred time slot, but exact times cannot be guaranteed — deliveries follow the local florist's routes and workload for the day. The date you select at checkout is honoured.

Can flowers be delivered to a hospital?

Acceptance depends on the hospital and ward, so check before ordering; otherwise delivery goes to reception. Use the hospital's own city and full address, with the patient's full name and, where possible, the ward or room.

Can I send flowers to a hotel guest?

Yes. Include the guest's full name and, if you can, their arrival date or booking reference. Receptions ask for the reservation name and room number, so both help them match it to the right guest.

Can flowers be delivered to a workplace?

Yes — include the company name and, if you know it, the floor or department, and the delivery goes to reception. Workplace deliveries should arrive within office hours, so choose a day the recipient is in.
