Florists use that number to confirm availability and the exact address before they set out. Apartment deliveries often need a door code, so add it at checkout with the rest of the delivery details, along with a floor or an entrance if the building has more than one.

Imported stems and hardy blooms in Greenland

The climate does not appear to support commercial cut-flower growing, so nearly all flowers are imported year-round, mainly by way of Denmark. Flowers are also given on Ullortuneq (Greenland National Day) on June 21, a national celebration of flag ceremonies and gift-giving, though that one is more a nicety than an expectation.

What happens if nobody answers the door

The florist will typically call the recipient or arrange a redelivery, so a missed knock is not a lost order. It is the reason the phone number earns its place in the address. Harder is someone mid-journey: an airport, a railway station or a cruise terminal is almost impossible to reach with a delivery, because there is no door and no one to sign. Send to the hotel, office or home address they are heading for instead, timed for after they arrive.
