Flowers — Benin

A continent away, and the flowers are made up on the morning you order: place it before 13:00 and they can be in their hands the same day. Deliveries run Monday to Saturday, which covers six of the seven days in any week you might need. The date crept up on you, and remembering it this morning is still in time — that is most of what flower delivery to Benin is asked to do. A card message comes with every order at no extra cost, printed word for word.

Pick your flowers from over 100 gifts and send them for arrival before the day is out — one order, placed this morning.

More About Flowers Delivery in Benin

What if the flowers you picked aren't in?

Then you get the same bouquet, built differently. If a particular flower isn't in that morning, the florist swaps it for one of equal or greater value that keeps the same look, so the arrangement holds its colour and its size even when a single stem is missing. Doors are the other unknown. If the recipient isn't home, the florist will usually call them or arrange a redelivery later, which is the ordinary outcome of a missed knock rather than a cancelled order.

Addressing a delivery in Benin without a postcode

There is no postcode system, and addresses use a PO Box instead. Give the complete address: the PO Box and the city, as in 01 BP 1234 Cotonou, plus a phone number for the recipient. Make it a local number where you can — florists use it to confirm availability and the exact address, and that one call does more for a delivery than any amount of written direction. Apartment deliveries often need a door code as well, so add it at checkout, in the field beside the address.

Add a plant or a box of chocolates

They are unwell and you cannot be there, and something bright for the bedside is the nearest thing to sitting with them. Flowers, Gift Baskets, Plants and Chocolates all go the same way, to the same address, on the same order. Plants keep going for months after cut stems have finished, which makes them the better choice for a long recovery or a desk. Chocolates fill out a small bouquet into a proper gift. Decide the flowers first; everything else is an addition to them.

Tropical stems, imported roses and the Cotonou market

Local growing is understood to sit around the Cotonou area and the Porto-Novo area, and tropical ornamentals such as hibiscus, bougainvillea and ixora are available year-round given the climate, with fuller supply in the dry season from November to March. Roses and other temperate cut flowers are mostly imported, alongside gladioli, carnations and chrysanthemums. Much of the trade passes through Dantokpa Market in Cotonou. The local hand is simple and colourful, loosely bunched instead of densely structured, hand-tied and wrapped in cellophane or paper, with palm fronds, croton leaves or ferns for green. Flowers are not a traditional part of everyday Beninese gift-giving outside French-influenced occasions and weddings.

When flowers are given here, and when to order

Mother's Day (Fête des Mères) falls on the last Sunday of May and is a major occasion for giving bouquets to mothers, and Valentine's Day on February 14 brings flowers between couples, mainly in urban centres like Cotonou. Those two are the exception to the usual schedule — florists open for the big flower days, so your order can arrive even when the date falls on a Sunday. Order at least 48 hours ahead. International Women's Day on March 8 sometimes brings flowers given to honour women. Christmas on December 25 puts arrangements in homes and churches, and flowers go with New Year greetings on January 1.

Reaching a traveller, and ordering a wreath

Someone mid-journey is almost impossible to reach with a delivery. An airport, a railway station or a cruise terminal will not hold flowers for a passenger, so send to their hotel, office or home address instead, timed for after they arrive. Funeral pieces run to a longer clock: wreaths and formal tributes need 24–48 hours' notice. Wreaths and white flowers are customary at Christian funerals and memorial services here.

Paying from your own country, in your own currency

Most orders for Benin are placed from abroad, and sending from another country changes nothing at your end — you order online, and the arrangement is made and delivered locally. Pay in the currency you hold; the order is placed and settled online, in one pass, without anything to arrange separately. What you are buying is a florist's morning in another country, and that is all the distance amounts to.

Customer Questions

Flowers Delivery to Benin — FAQs

Can I get same-day flower delivery in Benin?

Yes — order before 13:00 local time and your flowers can be delivered the same day. Orders placed after the cutoff are delivered on the next available day you choose at checkout.

Can flowers be delivered to a hospital patient?

Acceptance depends on the hospital and ward — check before ordering; otherwise delivery goes to reception. Use the hospital's own city and full address, with the patient's full name and, where possible, the ward or room.

Can I send flowers to someone staying at a hotel?

Yes. Include the guest's full name and, if you can, their arrival date or booking reference so reception can match the delivery to the right guest.

Can flowers be delivered to a workplace?

Yes — include the company name and, if you know it, the floor or department, and the delivery goes to reception. Choose a day the recipient is in, and a time inside office hours.

Can I order today for a date next month?

Yes. You can pick any future delivery date at checkout, which is the safest option around busy periods. The calendar only offers dates that are still available.

Can I choose the time of day for the delivery?

You can request a preferred time slot, but exact times cannot be guaranteed — deliveries follow the local florist's routes and workload for the day. The date you select is the one the florist works to.
